Aide/Transporter- Nights
Position Purpose
Responsible for the timely, courteous, and competent transportation of patients from the Emergency Center to other departments via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed. Receives assignments for specific trips and associated tasks from Manager and/or Dispatchers. Delivers and retrieves transport equipment throughout the hospital, as directed by the charge nurse when asked. Participates in cleaning and inspection of wheelchairs and stretchers. Accepts additional assignments related to the Emergency Center as is needed to provide service excellence to patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Delivers and retrieves transport equipment throughout the hospital, as directed by the charge nurse.
- Participates in cleaning and inspection of wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Accepts additional assignments related to support functions as is needed to provide service excellence to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- General knowledge of patient transport and age-specific interactions.
- Ability to read and write information in English regarding trip assignments and to confirm patient’s identification.
- Ability to use alpha-numeric pager and telephone.
- Customer service core competencies for ability to deal directly with patients, their families, and hospital staff.
- Able to work independently.
- Minimum of one to three months experience in a healthcare setting, especially in a role, which interacts with patients, is preferred.
- Verifiable patient transport experience is extremely desirable.
- Training in use of the equipment used to transport patients is recommended.
- CPR certification required within (12) month.
- Requires walking and standing for greater than 90% of the time.
- Work requires facilitating patient movement to and from transport equipment; lifting of up to 35 pounds of equipment or patient-related items, or up to 450 pounds with the help of others, primarily in the transport of patients.
Qualifications

Pay
Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.63 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
