About the Role
This position is for a Regular Aide at ALC-West, supporting teachers and students throughout the school day. The role involves instructional assistance, classroom management, and student supervision.
Requirements
- Proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent

- Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds
- Must have one of the following:
- 48 hours of college credits, OR
- Associate's or higher degree, OR
- Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above)

Terms of Employment
187 days. Salary/Pay Grade: $21,739/IP-2 as approved by the Board of Trustees. ALC aides earn an additional $1,000 annual stipend.
Essential Functions
- Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
- Help with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Help maintain neat and orderly classroom
- Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment, books and supplies
- Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside classroom, including lunchroom, bus and playground duty
- Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher, principal or other school personnel supervisor
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function
Working Conditions
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students
- Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Motion: Frequent walking and reaching
- Lifting: May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist non-ambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive and other classroom equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours
- Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise, exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases)
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress
