About the role

The Aide II works as an assistant to the regular classroom and vocational education classrooms, performing aide duties with students on a one-to-one and/or group basis.

Schedule

5.5 hours per day, 5 days per week, 9-month position.

Pay

Entry Range 12, Step 1: $19.97 per hour.

Qualifications

• Ability to work well with the public, students, staff, and parents.
• Ability to carry out tasks assigned by the teacher/supervisor.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
• Ability to safely, regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of the assigned teacher/supervisor.
• Secure and assist in the development of subject matter materials and use of other instructional equipment under supervision.
• Assist students with assigned work or projects.
• Duplicate materials.
• Distribute, collect, and assist in correcting materials, and assist in instructional record-keeping tasks.
• Assist teacher/supervisor in fostering safety practices.
• Supervise playground and/or assist on field trips.
• Help with inventory.
• May assist with supervision of activities such as lunchroom duties, collection of lunch money, library activities, recess, or bus duties.
• May monitor the classroom independently for short periods when the teacher must leave the room.
• May include independent instruction or monitoring of groups or individual students in systems the aide has received training in, under close supervision of the teacher.
• Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
• Other duties as assigned from time to time.
