Aide Environmental Services - Part time/Days

Overview

Works under the general direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor. Performs duties involving extensive cleaning and maintenance of all Hospital areas as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Accepts assignments and changes in schedule as necessary
• Assembles required cleaning equipment and supplies; prepares cleaning solutions; uses detergents, soaps, germicides, and other cleaning agents in accordance with standard practice
• Operates power-buffing equipment; performs all aspects of floor care; refinishes hard-surface flooring; shampoos and extracts carpeting
• Operates power wall and ceiling washing equipment
• Performs terminal isolation cleaning
• Dusts, mops, vacuums, sweeps, and performs other general cleaning and housekeeping duties including patient room and discharge cleaning
• Washes and/or cleans walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, lighting fixtures, lavatories, plumbing fixtures, and patient areas
• Removes trash including municipal solid waste, cardboard, recyclables, and biohazardous waste
• Adheres to departmental quality standards and infection control procedures
• Keeps supply stocked at proper levels
• Moves furniture and performs meeting room set-ups as required
• Reports unsafe conditions or other questionable matters to supervision; maintains work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition
• Adheres to prescribed safety practices; uses proper protection when working with chemicals, waste, or infectious materials; demonstrates proper body mechanics when lifting or moving materials
• Performs duties with minimum interruption to patients, nurses, and other personnel; responds in timely manner to requests; displays good public relations skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred (grandfathered provisions apply for employees employed by YNHH effective 9/12/2012 as a result of acquisition)
• Healthcare experience preferred
• Knowledge of powered floor equipment (e.g., buffing machines)
• Must be able to pull, push, lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Pay

• Minimum: $17.00/hr
• Maximum: $26.47/hr

This position is covered by the Teamsters Collective Bargaining Agreement.
