Overview
We are working with a private equity firm that is looking to build a bench of AI transformation consultants who can be deployed across the various organizations in its portfolio to help those companies think through and apply AI to drive value creation across their core business functions. This is not a traditional technical hire. We're looking for a strategically minded operator with a background at a major consulting firm (e.g., EY, McKinsey, PwC, Deloitte) who has led transformation work inside businesses and can translate AI capability into business strategy, not just build the underlying technology.
Areas of Focus
- Helping executive teams determine where AI can create meaningful business value and how it should shape their broader business strategy.
- Partnering with functional leaders across finance, human capital, sales, and operations to identify practical opportunities to embed AI into everyday workflows and decision-making.
- Establishing effective approaches to AI governance, prioritization, and organizational readiness as companies expand their use of AI.
- Serving as a trusted advisor to portfolio company leaders, bringing an objective perspective, constructive challenge, and practical guidance.
Role Scope & Operating Model
- Support a diverse group of portfolio companies, working directly with leadership teams to assess opportunities, provide strategic guidance, build organizational capabilities, and accelerate the practical adoption of AI.
- Operates across two interconnected levels: Company Level: Work alongside individual portfolio companies to evaluate their AI maturity, identify high-impact opportunities, establish priorities, and guide adoption and governance across key business functions.
- Portfolio Level: Identify common themes and lessons across companies, translate those insights into scalable frameworks, tools, and playbooks, and create opportunities for portfolio companies to share experiences and accelerate learning collectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with portfolio company executives and leadership teams to understand their businesses, identify high-value AI opportunities, and build alignment around an actionable AI agenda.
- Advising functional leaders across finance, human capital, sales, and operations on how AI can improve productivity, decision-making, and business performance.
- Translate emerging AI capabilities into practical recommendations that address real business priorities rather than technology for technology’s sake.
- Lead or support organizational change initiatives that enable teams to adopt AI-powered tools, processes, and new ways of working effectively.
- Develop and refine a scalable framework for assessing AI readiness, defining priorities, and developing AI strategies across the portfolio.
- Coach and enable executive teams and functional leaders to build the knowledge, confidence, and capabilities required to sustain AI adoption over time.
- Collaborate closely with internal Portfolio AI leadership to inform the firm's broader approach to AI transformation and value creation.
Experience & Qualifications
- 5–10 years of relevant professional experience, ideally including experience with a leading management consulting firm such as McKinsey, EY, PwC, Deloitte, or a comparable organization, with a focus on transformation or strategy.
- Demonstrated experience helping organizations evaluate, develop, and execute AI strategies, with an emphasis on business impact rather than technical implementation or engineering.
- Strong commercial and strategic judgment, combined with a practical understanding of AI capabilities and their application across business functions.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior executives and influence decision-making, including the confidence to challenge assumptions and provide candid, constructive advice.
- Experience leading organizational transformation or change management, particularly where new technologies, processes, or operating models are being introduced.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple companies, industries, and organizational environments, adapting approach to different business needs and levels of AI maturity.
- A highly collaborative coaching and advisory style, with the ability to educate, influence, and enable others without relying on formal authority.
- Private equity, portfolio company, or investment-backed business experience is a plus, but not required.
