AI TRAINER – STEM
Location: San Francisco, California (fully remote; open to candidates in the US, UK, or Canada). Employment: Direct hire / permanent. 12‑week contract engagement.
About the Role
This is a high-impact, hands-on position where you’ll analyze real data, evaluate AI responses, and develop challenging reasoning problems used to enhance AI capabilities. Over the course of this 12-week sprint, you will work approximately 30-40 hours per week, contributing your scientific or engineering expertise to a pioneering project with top tech companies. Compensation is competitive, with pay of $125/hr, and the role is fully remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution from anywhere in the US, UK, or Canada.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of applied experience in a science or engineering discipline (e.g., mechanical, electrical, civil, materials, energy, chemical, environmental, physics).
- Hands-on experience working with real-world data, measurement files, CAD models, or simulation outputs, along with analysis tools like MATLAB, Python, R, SolidWorks, or spectroscopy software.
- Strong understanding of statistical and experimental reasoning, including experiment design and measurement error analysis.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a fully remote setting.
- Familiarity with AI and large language models (LLMs) at a user level is preferred.
- Genuine availability and commitment for 30-40+ hours weekly throughout the 12-week duration.
Nice To Have Skills
- Experience grading or creating training datasets for AI models.
- Previous involvement in AI training, data annotation, or validation projects.
- Background in process improvement, quality control, or industrial testing.
- Certifications or advanced degrees are a plus but are not mandatory.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, physics, chemistry, or related fields.
- Middle to late-career professionals, including semi-retired engineers/scientists or independent consultants, who own end-to-end data analysis processes and are accustomed to working in fast-paced, technical environments.
Other Requirements
- Availability to dedicate full-time effort for the duration of the 12-week project.
- Must pass paid skills assessment ($240) in order to be engaged on the project.
- Ability to read and interpret complex scientific or engineering data accurately.
- This is a remote position; candidates should have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated workspace.
