About The Role
The Lead AI Security Engineer is a senior-level technical position responsible for ensuring the secure adoption and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities across FM's enterprise environment. This role involves defining security and risk requirements for AI systems, designing and implementing security controls, and serving as a subject matter expert at the intersection of cybersecurity, platform engineering, and emerging AI technologies. The role supports enterprise AI solutions such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, and internally developed agentic AI systems, including Azure AI Foundry. The successful candidate will translate emerging AI risks, security expectations, and enterprise requirements into scalable, actionable security patterns applied consistently across platforms. As a hands-on leader, the role collaborates closely with platform, engineering, and product teams to embed security into architecture, design, and operational processes, ensuring AI systems are secure, compliant, and resilient. The position emphasizes proactive security modeling, risk assessment, and control implementation to safeguard AI applications from threats while enabling business innovation.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in information technology or cybersecurity, including at least five years in security engineering or related technical areas such as cloud security, identity and access management, data protection, application security, or security operations.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing security controls in modern environments, including cloud platforms, APIs, identity systems, data protection, and monitoring.
- Experience defining security requirements, standards, guardrails, or control frameworks within complex enterprise settings.
- Practical knowledge or strong working familiarity with AI or large language model (LLM)-based systems, including their security implications and risks.
- Proven ability to partner with engineering and platform teams to integrate security into architecture, design, delivery pipelines, and operational workflows.
- Demonstrated skill in evaluating emerging technologies and guiding technical decision-making processes.
- Experience operating in cross-functional teams and managing initiatives from conception through deployment.
- Familiarity with Azure-based platforms and services, including Azure AI Foundry, is preferred.
- Exposure to enterprise AI platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, or similar solutions is advantageous.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, GIAC, or cloud security credentials are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of security capabilities that facilitate secure enterprise AI adoption across various platforms and frameworks.
- Define security and risk requirements for AI platforms and agent-based systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and enterprise policies.
- Translate security, regulatory, and emerging AI-related risks into clear technical controls, guardrails, and best practices aligned with frameworks like NIST, MITRE ATLAS, and OWASP.
- Collaborate with AI platform, engineering, and product teams to embed security controls into architecture, development, and operational processes.
- Conduct comprehensive security reviews and threat modeling for AI use cases, agent workflows, integrations, and platform functionalities to identify and mitigate potential risks prior to deployment.
- Define and oversee implementation of controls related to AI agent identity, API access, data privacy, auditability, and behavioral constraints within enterprise environments.
- Lead evaluations, proof-of-concept testing, and selection of native and third-party security solutions supporting AI governance, security, and control objectives.
- Assess integration requirements across enterprise identity management, logging, monitoring, data security, and security tooling to ensure cohesive security posture.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives involving security, platform engineering, and product teams to operationalize AI security capabilities and establish ongoing processes.
- Maintain practical standards, guidance, and best practices for secure AI deployment, configuration, and platform management.
- Provide expert consultation and technical direction where security responsibilities are shared or delegated, ensuring effective security requirements are defined and enforced.
