AI Safety Argumentation Platform Research Engineer

About the role

You'll develop and operate the evidentiary infrastructure for argumentation theory and agentic AI tooling. Your work will help stakeholders understand why certain arguments are valid and others are not.

Responsibilities

• Extend ontologies and knowledge graph schemas representing claims, evidence, argument structures, defeaters, and confidence
• Implement defeasible argumentation frameworks (e.g., ASPIC+, Dung-style, argumentation schemes)
• Operate and quality-control LLM-driven population pipelines
• Arcitect agent coordination patterns for multi-step research and population tasks
• Build export pipelines that translate structured argumentation into diverse communications formats
• Maintain current awareness across AI safety, capabilities, and governance
• Collaborate with communications staff and researchers

Requirements

• Familiarity with formal or semi-formal argumentation theory
• Experience with ontology engineering or knowledge graph development
• Operational experience with LLM agent systems
• Fluent vibecoding practice
• Substantive grounding in AI safety, AI governance, and current frontier-AI dynamics
• Familiarity with philosophy of science concepts
• Good coding skills
• Sound judgment about claim validity
