AI Native Software Engineer - Products
About the role
We are forming small, highly capable product teams to build a new portfolio of agentic software products in industries where Accenture has deep expertise and trusted relationships with many of the world’s largest organizations. This is a permanent software engineering role within a product team that brings together product management, design, and engineering with the autonomy to move quickly, make decisions, and own outcomes from prototype through production and scale. The role is hybrid, requiring onsite work in Seattle, New York, and/or Mountain View offices, and may include travel (0-10%).
Responsibilities
- Build and ship across the full stack, owning meaningful product capabilities end-to-end, including application architecture, data models, backend services, APIs, integrations, AI systems, and user experiences.
- Work directly with product managers and designers to turn customer problems into simple, high-quality products, balancing prototyping and production engineering.
- Design and implement agentic systems, including model interactions, tool use, retrieval, orchestration, state management, evaluations, observability, and guardrails for complex, real-world industry workflows.
- Use coding agents and AI development tools extensively throughout the engineering lifecycle, creating context, specifications, tests, and evaluation systems to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Set technical direction by translating ambiguous product opportunities into clear technical approaches, making architecture decisions, and balancing speed, simplicity, extensibility, security, cost, and reliability.
- Own product and production outcomes, staying close to users and customers to improve the product continuously using feedback, data, evaluations, and operational signals.
- Raise the engineering bar by providing rigorous technical review, helping other engineers improve their judgment and execution, and contributing to shared architecture, tools, and standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience building and shipping production software across the full stack, including frontend and backend systems.
- Minimum of 2 years of substantive, hands-on AI-native engineering experience, such as building with LLM APIs, coding agents, agent frameworks, tool integrations, retrieval systems, evaluation frameworks, or production guardrails.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience building reliable AI or agentic systems that operate beyond a prototype or demonstration environment, with a track record of taking products or systems from zero to one and owning them through production.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI development tools to increase engineering leverage without lowering the quality bar.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (minimum 12 years; if Associate’s Degree, minimum 6 years of work experience).
Skills
- Excellent judgment under ambiguity and the ability to make progress without complete information.
- Strong product instincts and the ability to recognize what makes a product useful, intuitive, and well-crafted.
- Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and collaborate closely with product managers, designers, customers, and domain experts.
- Genuine interest in frontier AI and a consistent habit of testing new models, tools, and engineering approaches.
