AI/ML Intern (Summer 2027)

About the role

Dev Technology Group seeks rising juniors and seniors for a Summer 2027 internship in Reston, Virginia. Interns will support advanced technology projects for government, corporate, or R&D initiatives, practicing Agile development and delivering a technical intern project with peers. U.S. citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain a public trust clearance or higher is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Agile ceremonies: daily stand-ups, weekly sprint planning, and retrospectives
• Develop solutions using modern data science, AI, and machine learning practices
• Analyze data and create visualizations to identify meaningful trends in large datasets
• Conduct lean-agile investigations such as root-cause analysis
• Develop software to support data and AI objectives using modern tooling
• Collaborate with fellow interns on a technical project and present results to the executive team
• Maintain user guide documentation

Required Skills and Experience

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computational Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Computer Science with an AI focus
• Experience with Python, Jupyter Notebook, and associated data science libraries
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with developers, providing guidance and support
• Desire to learn new skills, including self-study when needed
• Ability to follow through on tasks to completion and a genuine enjoyment of technology and data
• Completed coursework in Java, Python, or another object-oriented, typed language
• Ability to read through existing code with support from a senior developer
• Willingness to commute to the Reston, Virginia office at least two days per week

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Rising senior preferred
• Experience implementing AI solutions using cloud-based or cloud-native tools
• Experience with data cleansing and data architecture concepts and design
• Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and related frameworks

Pay

Our estimated salary range for this position is $21–$30 per hour. Offered compensation is based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements; actual salary may fall outside this range.
