AI/ML Engineer II

About the role

Torch.AI is seeking candidates who bring creativity, comfort with ambiguity, and a drive to strengthen U.S. defense readiness and protect national interests. This role involves building a government-owned reasoning infrastructure that enhances machine reasoning at scale, enabling better decisions through data integration and context management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Reasoning Layer, a modular architecture for data ingestion, orchestration, governance, semantic representation, vectorization, graph-based fusion, and reasoning.
• Collaborate with engineers, data experts, veterans, and mission practitioners to deliver impactful solutions.
• Own meaningful work and see systems deployed in production, often within weeks.
• Work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven environment where daily challenges are new puzzles.

Requirements

• Comfortable operating without full clarity and paying attention to what actually happens, not just what was intended.
• Able to take responsibility for outcomes, not just implementation.

Qualifications

• Experience with data engineering, machine learning, and reasoning systems.
