With 37,000+ employees, 900+ worldwide locations, and $3 billion USD in annual revenue, we deliver impactful solutions that power and improve the world.
About the role
Responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of advanced AI and machine learning solutions in support of D&Z AI initiatives. This senior engineering role requires expertise in both generative AI application development and traditional machine learning, including LLM-based agents, RAG systems, MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, and predictive models. The AI/ML Engineer 2 owns complex projects independently, drives technical architecture decisions, evaluates emerging AI tools, and mentors junior team members. This position collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to integrate AI/ML solutions into business processes and communicates technical concepts to diverse audiences. Remote candidates are welcome; preference given to those local to an office location or willing to relocate for hybrid work.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy production-grade generative AI applications, including AI agents, RAG chatbots, workflow automations, and MCP servers using modern frameworks and vector databases.
- Develop and deploy production-grade predictive models using machine learning techniques (regression, classification, clustering, time series).
- Author custom skills, prompts, slash commands, and evaluation harnesses to improve AI application quality using tools like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor.
- Define and own production monitoring, drift detection, online/offline metrics, and retraining strategies for AI/ML systems; apply statistical methods to validate outputs.
- Own data engineering and pipeline infrastructure, including retrieval architectures, embeddings, context engineering, and model training/fine-tuning workflows.
- Review code, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to team-wide engineering standards, documentation, and knowledge management.
- Present results and deliver live demonstrations of AI/ML solutions to technical and executive audiences.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on experience building production LLM applications with providers like Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or open-source models; expertise in prompt engineering, RAG with vector databases, AI agent design, tool use, and MCP server development.
- Proficiency in ML frameworks (scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, TensorFlow) and statistical analysis, including hypothesis testing, feature engineering, model optimization, and monitoring.
- Strong Python skills for ML and AI application development; ability to write production-grade, maintainable, well-tested code.
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction, cleaning, transformation, and pipeline development; experience deploying ML/AI workloads on-premises and in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in Git, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, API development, and observability (logging, tracing, cost/token monitoring) for LLM applications.
- Experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor), including configuring custom skills and integrating them into team workflows.
- Ability to lead technical discovery, make architecture decisions, review code, mentor junior engineers, and raise team standards.
- Skilled at creating dashboards, visualizations, live demos, and technical presentations for diverse stakeholders.
- Experience gathering requirements, working in cross-functional teams, and producing clear documentation and user guides.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (highly preferred). Will consider 7 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Successful completion of background screening process.
Essential Functions
- Visual acuity (e.g., preparing/analyzing data, transcribing documents, viewing a computer).
- Manual dexterity (e.g., typing, picking, pinching).
- Grasping (e.g., applying hand pressure).
- Hearing and talking (e.g., conveying spoken instructions).
- Capacity to think, concentrate, and focus for extended periods.
- Ability to write and read complex documents in English.
- Capacity to reason, make sound decisions, and express thoughts orally.
- Ability to perform all job functions at the Company’s office or work site.
