Summary
The AI Learning Experience Designer (LXD) collaborates with clients and internal teams to create effective, engaging learning solutions aligned with business goals. They develop high-level and detailed designs, produce learning content across live, virtual, and digital formats, and ensure compliance with standards and accessibility. The role involves applying design thinking, managing review cycles, supporting event planning, and integrating innovative technologies. The LXD serves as a client-facing hybrid—design consulting, learning science, UX/UI, and hands-on AI prototyping in one person—who turns client needs into working prototypes of modern learning solutions.
Responsibilities
- Partner with clients from discovery to delivery, grounded in adult-learning principles
- Design end-to-end learning journeys and interfaces—UX/UI and accessibility
- Build working prototypes with AI coding and prototyping tools
- Use AI across the workflow, with human judgment over quality and pedagogy
- Work fluently with learning data and success metrics beyond completion
- Manage risk: data privacy, AI bias and reliability, accessibility, compliance
- Navigate the learning ecosystem—LMS/LXP platforms and authoring tools
- Contribute to client pitches, proposals, and RFP responses
- Collaborate with clients, Learning Consultants, Learning Solutions, and Enablement & Operations teams to co-create tailored learning solutions that meet business objectives
- Manage stakeholder relationships, contributing to clear communication and alignment throughout projects
- Develop high-level and detailed designs that define learning outcomes, instructional strategies, and assessments aligned with client priorities
- Create engaging, clear, and accessible learning content and materials across modalities, including live, virtual, and digital formats
- Utilize design thinking and learner-centric approaches to empathize with client and learner needs, ideate solutions, and prototype concepts for early validation
- Facilitate review and revision cycles with stakeholders and subject matter specialists to ensure quality, relevance, and alignment with compliance standards
- Plan and support execution of live and virtual learning events, including facilitation guides, show flows, and rehearsal coordination
- Apply standards for compliance, accessibility, cultural awareness, and content risk management throughout the design and development process
- Collaborate with Enablement & Operations teams to integrate innovative technologies, tools, and processes that enhance learning delivery and measurement
Requirements
- Client service mindset
- Proven learning experience/instructional design
- Adult learning theory
- Experience with design sprints and agile delivery
- Strong UX/UI fundamentals: research, prototyping, and usability testing
- Hands-on fluency with AI prototyping/coding tools and generative AI
- Data literacy—defining, reading, and acting on metrics
- Awareness of AI, data, and accessibility risks, plus how to mitigate them
- Excellent client-facing and pitching skills
- A bias toward building (would rather prototype than write a spec)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong presence and communication skills
- Self-sufficient with strong initiative and willingness to learn
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications and cloud-based tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive
- Ability and experience in managing people
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work with a high level of independence
- Experience in a professional services firm or equivalent
- 5+ years training & development experience
- Familiarity with LMS/LXP platforms and authoring tools
- Agency or consultancy background a plus
