About the role

EY is making significant investments in its AI & Data practice serving the Power & Utilities sector. Our mission is to leverage the power of data, AI, and emerging GenAI and Agentic AI capabilities to drive innovation, improve reliability and resiliency, modernize operations, and enhance customer and regulatory outcomes for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and partner with electric, gas, and water utilities to design and deliver AI strategies and solutions aligned to operational and regulatory realities.
  • Establish AI strategies, governance and risk management frameworks, AI operating models, define solution architectures, and oversee the engineering and scaling of AI, GenAI, and Agentic AI capabilities within client environments.
  • Ensure all solutions comply with regulatory, security, and enterprise standards.
  • Translate technical concepts into business and operational value for executive and regulator-facing audiences.
  • Develop EY AI delivery assets, accelerators, and reusable frameworks for AI Engineering, MLOps, LLMOps, observability, and governance.
  • Representative Power & Utilities AI, GenAI, and Agentic AI focus areas may include: asset health, risk, and predictive maintenance for electric and gas infrastructure; outage prediction, storm response decision support, and restoration optimization; vegetation management analytics and inspection prioritization; grid and load forecasting, including DER, EV, and demand response impacts; capital planning analytics and risk-based investment prioritization; customer operations optimization and contact center copilots; regulatory analytics, including data request response and filing support; field workforce enablement using technician copilots and knowledge assistants; agentic AI workflows that orchestrate multi-step processes across utility systems with human-in-the-loop controls.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree required (4-year degree).
  • 8–10 years of experience delivering AI, data, analytics, and GenAI solutions, ideally within Power & Utilities or other asset-intensive regulated industries.
  • 8–10 years of professional consulting experience delivering technology-enabled transformation programs.
  • Strong experience with AI engineering, data platforms, and scalable cloud-based analytics solutions.
  • Experience working with Agile delivery models.
  • Experience defining and implementing AI governance, lifecycle management, monitoring, and controls.
  • Hands-on familiarity with GenAI architectures such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), orchestration frameworks, and agent-based solutions.
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

  • Clear vision for how Power & Utilities will evolve through digital transformation and AI.
  • Strong expertise in designing and operationalizing responsible, explainable, and controlled AI in regulated environments.
  • Deep understanding of utility operations, asset lifecycles, safety culture, capital programs, and regulatory expectations.
  • Ability to lead large-scale engagements while building trusted executive relationships.
  • Strong technical fluency across AI, data, analytics, and GenAI patterns within enterprise environments.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Ability to lead complex client engagements and translate strategic objectives into actionable AI and data roadmaps across generation, transmission, distribution, gas operations, and customer functions.
  • Guiding clients through AI governance, Responsible AI, model risk management, and operating model design suited for regulated environments.
  • Serving as a sector and technology leader across AI, data platforms, GenAI, and Agentic AI use cases relevant to Power & Utilities.
  • Leading business development activities, including solution positioning, proposal development, and pursuit leadership.
  • Driving development of EY AI delivery assets, accelerators, and reusable frameworks for AI Engineering, MLOps, LLMOps, observability, and governance.

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $144,00 to $329,100. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $172,800 to $374,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.

Pay

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $144,00 to $329,100. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $172,800 to $374,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.

Schedule

We expect most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
