AI Engineering Lead

For our client, we are seeking a AI Engineering Lead to join the team of a leader in the Technical Services space. This role will provide technical leadership for AI capabilities that support mission-driven investigative analytics and broader enterprise use cases. You will guide architecture decisions, govern access to approved AI models, and help shape scalable solutions that align with data policies, cost considerations, and responsible AI practices. The position partners closely with government leadership and product stakeholders to deliver practical, high-impact AI applications. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $114,600 – $252,100 annually Responsibilities Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for AI capabilities across the organization Oversee access to government-approved AI models, including model selection and API management Lead design and development of mission-specific AI applications for investigative analytics Establish and enforce model governance, cost management, and responsible AI frameworks Define and implement AI/ML architecture patterns ensuring compliance with data governance policies Lead AI solution architecture and prototyping efforts, addressing complex AI scenarios Collaborate with government leadership and product teams to align AI capabilities with mission priorities Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 15 years of experience in AI, ML, software engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered Proven technical leadership in architecting and delivering enterprise-scale AI/ML solutions Deep expertise in large language models (LLMs), generative AI, Azure OpenAI, and Azure AI services Extensive experience in AI architecture design, including model routing and integration patterns Strong background in AI/ML frameworks such as LangChain, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Python development Benefits Flexible time off to support work-life balance Access to robust learning resources for professional development A supportive culture of integrity and trust Comprehensive benefits including healthcare, wellness, and retirement plans Opportunities for continuous growth and career advancement Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
