About The Role We are seeking a Senior GenAI Developer with extensive hands-on experience in both open-source and AWS Generative AI stacks. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building production-ready Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, agentic AI workflows, and knowledge base chatbots. Your expertise will help deliver accurate, low-hallucination, and observable AI solutions at enterprise scale. Collaborating closely with architects and business stakeholders, you will develop innovative AI applications that enhance healthcare services and operational efficiencies. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely within the United States, with specific in-office requirements for candidates in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C., ensuring a dynamic and supportive work environment. Your contributions will directly influence the future of health technology, making a positive impact on the communities we serve. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field8+ years of overall software or AI engineering experience2+ years of direct hands-on experience building and deploying GenAI / LLM-based applications in productionStrong Python development skills, primarily used for AI engineeringDemonstrated experience with RAG pipelines, vector databases, and agentic architecturesValid Driver’s License and reliable transportation Responsibilities Design and develop production-grade Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines utilizing LangChain and LangGraph for stateful workflowsCreate and maintain knowledge base chatbots with features such as semantic search, source attribution, and multi-turn conversation memoryImplement advanced retrieval strategies, including Hybrid Search (vector + keyword), HyDE, and Hierarchical / Small-to-Big chunkingBuild and orchestrate multi-agent architectures with agentic RAG patterns like Corrective RAG and Self-RAGIntegrate Large Language Models (Claude, GPT-4, Llama 3, Mistral) via APIs and open-source hosting solutions like Fireworks AI and GroqDesign and operate vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, or PGVector for semantic knowledge storageDevelop AWS Bedrock-based solutions using Bedrock Agents, Knowledge Bases, and GuardrailsEstablish evaluation frameworks utilizing Ragas for faithfulness and relevance scoring, maintaining Golden Datasets for CI/AI testingImplement LLM observability tools like LangSmith or Phoenix to trace calls, debug hallucinations, and monitor costsApply PII redaction pipelines on ingested documents and enforce data security protocols using Model Context Protocol (MCP)Deploy AI backends leveraging FastAPI and Docker, incorporating OpenTelemetry for system-wide monitoringCollaborate with Solution Architects to produce high-level and low-level design documents, along with developer-facing documentation for AI components Benefits Comprehensive health and wellness benefitsIncentive and recognition programsEquity stock purchase options401(k) retirement plan contributionsFlexible work arrangements, including remote work opportunitiesCareer development and continuous learning supportInclusive and diverse work environment Equal Opportunity UnitedHealth Group is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
