AI Engineer, Marketing
About the role
The AI Engineer will help define, architect, and implement / project manage how artificial intelligence is applied across Planet's marketing organization to improve efficiency, scalability, and performance. This role will identify opportunities to integrate AI into marketing workflows, campaign development, and marketing operations, while helping build the technical infrastructure in tandem with the corporate engineering team that powers pipeline generation and customer acquisition.
Responsibilities
- Identify gaps, create strategy for, and implement AI across marketing workflows including campaign execution, content production, analytics, and marketing operations. From concept, through execution.
- Arcitect and build an AI-first GTM engine that identifies, engages, and converts high-value customer segments through automated lead research and qualification systems.
- Use AI to spearhead complex data analytics and build GTM data optimization layers to report on funnel performance and revenue attribution.
- Partner with Growth and regional marketing teams to apply AI to campaign planning, structured messaging experimentation loops, and audience targeting.
- Collaborate with Marketing Operations, RevOps, and Corporate Engineering to integrate new AI tools and automated outreach sequences into existing CRM and marketing automation platforms.
- Work with Corporate engineering to evaluate emerging AI technologies and vendors, selecting tools that build a robust GTM technology stack.
- Develop internal playbooks and frameworks for how marketing teams should use AI tools in their daily work.
- Support AI-driven experimentation including creative testing, automated messaging variations, and landing page drafts.
- Help train marketing teams on AI capabilities, best practices, and responsible use of AI technologies.
- Lead, monitor, and report on the impact of AI initiatives across campaign velocity, marketing efficiency, and pipeline generation.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure AI initiatives align with Planet's mission to make global change visible, accessible, and actionable.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, data analytics, or automation engineer with at least 1 year building production-grade AI systems.
- Hands-on experience working with LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source), including prompt design, evaluation, and iteration
- Experience building agentic workflows that take actions (not just generate text), including tool use, chaining, and structured outputs
- Demonstrated ability to design and build complex operational systems from scratch that support marketing, sales, or revenue teams.
- Experience working in marketing technology platforms such as CRM systems (Salesforce), marketing automation tools (Marketo), and data enrichment platforms.
- Experience implementing artificial intelligence tools including generative AI, workflow orchestration tools, and AI-powered analytics platforms.
- Experience improving marketing workflows through automation, process design, or technical system implementation.
- Ability to translate technical capabilities into practical marketing applications and automated engagement sequences that support business goals.
- Experience working cross-functionally with marketing, operations, product, corporate engineering, and data teams.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to interpret market data and customer signals to evaluate the impact of marketing initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to help teams adopt new tools and processes.
- Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where systems and processes are being built for the first time.
Qualifications
- Experience applying AI to marketing functions such as campaign development, content production, experimentation, or personalization, reporting, analytics, and personalization.
- You’ve built AI systems that directly impacted revenue, growth, or operations (not just demos or prototypes)
- Familiarity with marketing AI tools such as generative content platforms, AI analytics tools, or AI-native GTM enhancements.
- Experience building internal frameworks or playbooks for new technology adoption.
- Experience working in high-growth technology companies or data-driven marketing environments.
- Strong technical curiosity regarding how automation and AI can reshape traditional revenue workflows.
Skills

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.
