Senior AI Engineer — AI & Automation (Remote, US) # Senior AI Engineer — AI & Automation (Remote, US) ## About the Role Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Engineer (AI & Automation) to own the AI agent infrastructure and automation platform supporting its Marketing Operations organization. This role focuses on building production-grade AI systems, multi-agent architectures, LLM integrations, backend services, and automation workflows that connect AI models with internal and third-party data platforms. This is a high-autonomy engineering role where you will help define technical direction, identify high-impact opportunities across Marketing, Revenue Operations (RevOps), and Sales Development Representative (SDR) teams, and deliver scalable automation solutions. You will collaborate with Data Engineering, GTM Systems, and Field Operations to reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency. ## Key Responsibilities - Own end-to-end development of multi-agent AI systems, including architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operations.- Build modular and composable agentic systems using orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, Anthropic MCP, or similar technologies.- Develop reusable agentic skills that can operate across Slack, dashboards, internal applications, and CLIs.- Implement observability and feedback loops, including logging, performance metrics, prompt iteration, model evaluation, and cost management.- Establish governance and compliance standards for AI workflows, including access controls, audit trails, PII handling, and human-in-the-loop escalation paths.- Build MCP servers, APIs, CLIs, and microservices connecting AI models to business systems such as BigQuery, Slack, CRMs, email, calendars, and analytics tools.- Architect retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) data flows connecting LLMs with internal knowledge bases, customer data, and real-time business context.- Build serverless or containerized services using GCP Cloud Functions and Cloud Run.- Integrate services with Grafana's cloud infrastructure.- Partner with RevOps, Demand Generation, Regional Marketing, and SDR teams to identify automation opportunities and bottlenecks.- Design and deploy workflows using n8n, Workato, or custom platforms.- Apply CI/CD, testing, and production reliability practices to automation workflows.- Build self-service systems supported by documentation, playbooks, and enablement materials.- Define technical direction for the automation platform, including data models, API contracts, shared libraries, and reference architectures.- Collaborate with Data Engineering, GTM Systems, and Field Operations on scalable automation solutions.- Use AI-assisted development tools while maintaining strong code review and software quality standards. ## Required Qualifications - 8+ years of software engineering experience with depth in backend development, systems integration, or data/analytics engineering.- 2+ years of hands-on experience applying LLMs or AI to production workflows, beyond prototypes.- Strong proficiency in Python.- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/Node.js.- Experience with Git-based workflows, code review practices, and testing discipline.- Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks and patterns, including prompt engineering, RAG, function calling/tool use, structured output parsing, and evaluation.- Experience building and operating multi-agent systems at scale.- Experience with agent decomposition, orchestration patterns, state management, and related multi-agent architecture concepts. ## Preferred Qualifications -
