AI Engineer - Database Engineering

Snowflake is hiring an AI Engineer for Database Engineering to work on core database engine initiatives with an AI-forward approach. The role focuses on building production AI features, agentic workflows, and evaluation systems for customer-facing impact.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end for Snowflake Database Engineering products
• Build agentic workflows
• Build coding harnesses
• Build evaluation pipelines
• Build enterprise-grade context engineering
• Design and run evals and hillclimb experiments
• Create golden sets
• Create rubrics and metrics
• Analyze errors
• Run experiments to improve metrics
• Partner with product and infra teams
• Translate customer problems into products and experiments
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to productionize improvements
• Work with a small, high-powered engineering team
• Build great products
• Work on critical business initiatives in the core database engine
• Bring an AI-forward approach to software development
• Accelerate roadmap cycles for customer benefit
• Handle the full AI engineering lifecycle from design through optimization
• Follow confidentiality and security standards for handling sensitive data
• Abide by the company’s data security plan
• Keep customer information secure and confidential
• Build complex systems with pipelines, orchestration, substantial state, branching logic, and operational requirements
• Take problems to completion independently
• Maintain production reliability and clear metrics

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience shipping AI features in production
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
• Master’s or higher degree preferred
