Qualifications
- 4-6 years of professional back-end development experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment
- Hands-on experience building or operating AI/ML systems in production
- Proficiency with LLM APIs, including prompt design and context management
- Solid expertise in Python and back-end frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI
- Solid understanding of web development best practices, REST APIs, asynchronous task management, and data management
- Good judgment in balancing reliability, latency, cost, quality, and maintainability
- Exceptional ownership and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts
- Growth-oriented mindset with a bias toward action and business outcomes
- Adaptability and curiosity to navigate a rapidly evolving AI landscape
- Working knowledge of version control and CI/CD tools
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain AI-powered features within Homeward’s products, including integrations with LLM APIs, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and automation tools
- Understand and communicate technical and business requirements effectively across teams
- Build and enhance shared tooling and reusable components to streamline AI integration across engineering teams
- Ensure the reliability of AI features through observability, monitoring, evaluation, and prompt management
- Address complex, ambiguous problems by leveraging LLMs and ML techniques to deliver tangible business value
- Prototype innovative solutions rapidly and collaborate with peers to refine and deploy scalable, maintainable systems
- Shape best practices and patterns for building with AI, making it accessible and straightforward for other team members
- Evaluate emerging models, tools, and approaches, providing recommendations for adoption and guiding team integration
- Utilize AI coding assistants such as Claude and Copilot to enhance productivity and code quality
- Write automated tests and participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to ensure solutions are practical, well-documented, and easy to adopt
