About the role
We are looking for a founding software engineer and a founding data engineer to join our team. The software engineer will thrive building technology that surfaces new scientific insights, while the data engineer will live at the intersection of data science, software engineering, and machine learning engineering.
Responsibilities
- Build and optimize search engines for biological data
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new technologies
- Work closely with data scientists to integrate machine learning models into the platform
- Develop and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new algorithms and data structures
- Ensure data quality and accuracy through rigorous testing and validation processes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with software development, data engineering, and machine learning
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Knowledge of distributed systems, databases, and cloud platforms
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools
Qualifications
- Passion for making complex biological data accessible and understandable
- Experience with natural language processing and knowledge graph construction
- Understanding of ethical considerations in handling sensitive biological data
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Skills
- Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or Flink
- Knowledge of web development frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Experience with version control systems like Git
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure

Pay
Salary range: $150,000 - $200,000 annually
