AI Data Engineer
About Our Client
The organization operates at the cutting edge of the data science technology sector, focusing exclusively on solving high-stakes challenges within financial crimes risk management. The company delivers a powerful, enterprise-grade AI platform built to analyze complex signals of risk across incredibly diverse, high-volume, and unstructured text sources. By seamlessly integrating internal financial institution data with vast public domain information, the platform dramatically optimizes mission-critical compliance workflows—including Know Your Customer (KYC), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Fraud Risk Management, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML). This sophisticated approach empowers global financial entities to achieve unprecedented efficiency, structural speed, and regulatory accuracy amid mounting geopolitical and operational complexity.
About the Opportunity
The AI Data Engineer will join the core AI Systems team as a technical spearhead, taking direct responsibility for driving rapid data prototyping and developing highly resilient, experimental ETL pipelines. This position plays an essential role in pioneering advanced data acquisition methodologies, building robust processing pipelines, locking down continuous data quality, and enforcing strict regulatory compliance. Serving as the foundational engine of the engineering unit, this role is critical for transforming disparate, unstructured global data sources into rich, high-fidelity signals that fuel the organization's predictive risk management solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end data discovery, parsing, and ingestion frameworks sourcing from complex open-source intelligence (OSINT) and specialized commercial data providers
- Design, optimize, and scale high-throughput ETL pipelines, prioritizing extreme performance optimization across data indexing, query tuning, concurrency limits, and dynamic load balancing
- Champion rigorous data quality assurance methodologies and architect independent, automated pipeline testing frameworks
- Execute advanced structural parsing and semantic enrichment workflows across highly unstructured textual data, utilizing ontology management and complex knowledge graph integrations
- Maintain comprehensive governance over data compliance protocols, building thorough technical documentation and detailed metadata profiles (data cards) for compliance auditing
Requirements
- Must hold active US Citizenship (required for compliance and secure data access protocols)
- Minimum of four (4) years of progressive, relevant professional experience in data engineering or AI infrastructure (advanced technical degrees may be factored into overall tenure evaluations)
- Formal educational background in a highly technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field)
- High proficiency leveraging AI-assisted coding tools and architecting agentic workflows, including advanced multi-agent testing paradigms
- Deep production-level experience managing relational database management systems, specifically PostgreSQL and AWS RDS environments
- Mastery of Python for data manipulation; strong conceptual familiarity or exposure to Spark/PySpark, Scala, and massive-scale data processing tools is highly advantageous
- Proven history managing large-scale, enterprise data pipelines and high-performance computing (HPC) environments
- Solid, practical command of AWS cloud management, infrastructure-as-code principles, and cloud data architecture
- Familiarity or hands-on alignment with knowledge-graph platforms and structured ontology frameworks (e.g., Neo4j, GraphDB)
- A highly self-driven, mission-oriented mindset characterized by crisp technical communication abilities
- Willingness to provide verifiable professional references and availability to attend strategic in-person meetings as required
