AI Architect SME

About the role

We are seeking an AI Architect SME to provide enterprise-level leadership for FEMA’s AI strategy, responsible AI governance, and adoption of advanced ML and automation capabilities to support mission-critical operations.

Responsibilities

• Define FEMA’s enterprise AI architecture vision.
• Oversee AI governance, model risk management, and compliance.
• Lead design of enterprise-scale AI platforms, data ecosystems, and MLOps.
• Advise leadership on emerging AI capabilities and strategic investments.

Requirements

• Over 10 years of work experience with similar responsibilities.
• Expert-level AI/ML knowledge and cloud-native architecture.
• Deep familiarity with ethics, governance, and risk frameworks for AI.
• Ability to guide enterprise modernization efforts.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust. Active Public Trust is preferred. FEMA Public Trust is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Analytics, Cloud AI/ML certifications preferred.
