About the Role

We are seeking a skilled, practical, and detail-oriented AI Agent Engineer to design, build, test, and maintain intelligent automation workflows that combine AI models, automation platforms, business logic, APIs, and data systems. This role is ideal for someone who understands how to move beyond simple automation and create reliable AI-assisted workflows that solve real business problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create internal and customer-facing automations that reduce manual work, improve operational efficiency, and support better decision-making.
  • Build workflows using automation platforms such as n8n, Zapier, Make, Pipedream, Workato, or similar tools.
  • Integrate workflows with third-party APIs, AI model providers, databases, cloud services, CRMs, internal applications, webhooks, and business systems.
  • Combine low-code automation tools with custom JavaScript or Python snippets to support more advanced logic and integrations.
  • Develop AI prompt workflows for classification, summarization, extraction, scoring, routing, recommendations, matching, and decision support.
  • Create structured output pipelines using JSON, schema validation, output formatting rules, retry logic, and fallback processes.
  • Build webhook-based workflows that receive, process, transform, and route data between systems.
  • Write and maintain API calls, database queries, conditional logic, transformation steps, and data enrichment processes.
  • Design workflows that include error handling, logging, validation, retries, alerts, and graceful failure paths.
  • Test workflows for accuracy, reliability, formatting consistency, edge cases, missing data, duplicate data, and business-rule compliance.
  • Maintain workflow performance and troubleshoot issues related to API failures, data inconsistencies, AI output problems, timeout errors, rate limits, and integration changes.
  • Secure automation workflows by protecting credentials, managing access, validating inputs, and following safe data-handling practices.
  • Collaborate with product, development, operations, and business teams to understand workflow needs and translate them into practical automation designs.
  • Review existing manual processes and identify opportunities for AI-assisted automation.
  • Document workflow architecture, business logic, prompts, integrations, data flows, dependencies, testing steps, and maintenance procedures.
  • Stay current with AI agent tools, automation platforms, API integration patterns, LLM capabilities, and emerging workflow engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience building automation workflows, AI workflows, backend integrations, or business process automations.
  • Experience with automation platforms such as n8n, Zapier, Make, Pipedream, Workato, Airtable Automations, or similar tools.
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs, webhooks, databases, cloud services, and internal applications.
  • Ability to use JavaScript, Python, or similar scripting languages to extend workflow logic and handle custom processing.
  • Experience working with large language models, AI APIs, prompt workflows, structured outputs, or AI-assisted automation.
  • Strong understanding of JSON, REST APIs, webhooks, authentication methods, data transformation, and conditional workflow logic.
  • Experience designing reliable workflows with error handling, retries, validation, logging, and fallback processes.
  • Experience testing workflows and debugging issues across multiple connected systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business processes into clear automation logic.
  • Ability to document technical workflows in a way that can be understood and maintained by others.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, Azure AI, AWS AI services, or similar AI model providers.
  • Experience building agentic workflows that use tool calling, prompt chains, decision branches, structured outputs, or multi-step reasoning processes.
  • Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, retrieval-augmented generation, or AI-powered knowledge workflows.
  • Experience with SQL, NoSQL databases, Airtable, Google Sheets, CRMs, CMS platforms, or internal business databases.
  • Experience creating workflows for candidate matching, job matching, resume analysis, scoring systems, document extraction, lead routing, customer support, or operational automation.
  • Familiarity with cloud services, serverless functions, queues, schedulers, storage systems, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience handling API rate limits, authentication failures, pagination, retries, batching, and timeout issues.
  • Understanding of data privacy, secure credential handling, responsible AI practices, and safe processing of user information.
  • Experience working in a startup, SaaS company, recruiting technology platform, AI product team, or fast-moving business environment.
  • Familiarity with Git, version control, workflow documentation standards, and change management processes.

Work Environment

This is a fully remote, full-time position. The role requires strong communication, self-direction, and the ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams. The AI Agent Engineer will work closely with leadership, developers, product stakeholders, operations teams, and internal users to build workflows that improve products, processes, and business operations.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. Benefits may include:

  • Competitive salary
  • Full-time employment
  • Fully remote work environment
  • Paid time off
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Opportunity to work with modern AI and automation tools
  • Opportunity to help shape internal and customer-facing AI workflows
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment
  • Meaningful role in building practical automation systems for real business use

Equal Opportunity Statement

We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, experience, skills, and business needs. We are committed to maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
