Typical third shift hours are 10:58pm – 6:58am, with a mix of weekdays and weekends required (including holidays).
About the Role
Facility Services staff are responsible for performing general custodial and janitorial work in and around Biltmore House, Antler Hill Village, Antler Hill Barn, Cedric’s, Bistro, Winery, RTSC, and other locations across the Estate.
Responsibilities
- Clean restrooms with a high degree of cleanliness and detail to Biltmore standards.
- Clean public areas, offices, break rooms, and various areas on the Estate.
- Empty trash cans and carry out tasks as needed (e.g., replacing light bulbs, pressure washing, cleaning fountains).
- Respond to emergencies and perform emergency clean-up of bodily fluids.
- Perform snow removal at RTSC, Village, and Antler Hill Barn (hotel stay included).
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance at the RTSC ticketing center as needed.
- Climb scaffolding and ladders.
- Perform storm debris clean-up.
- Ensure safety protocols and quality controls are followed in full compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Perform minor maintenance work orders as assigned by management.
- Assist with administration related to area operational activities.
- Store, organize, and maintain proper supplies and supply rooms.
- Work overtime or different shifts if required by management.
- Work from heights of at least 8 feet.
- Provide general support and assistance to the department, leadership, and company as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma (or GED); additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred.
- At least one (1) year of previous custodial/janitorial and/or maintenance experience.
- Prior experience in a guest service, attraction, or hotel/resort environment (preferably working second or third shifts) is ideal.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering world-class guest service through clean and immaculate facilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to safely operate commercial cleaning equipment and read material safety data (MSD) sheets.
- Proactive and able to take initiative where appropriate.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, prioritize, multi-task, and work under deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and at least 19 years of age.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, reach overhead, and reach below throughout the duration of a shift.
- Ability to climb ladders or scaffolding up to 8 feet.
- Visual acuity and ability to respond appropriately to a variety of stimuli.
- Ability to work effectively with exposure to dust, dirt, foul odors, bodily fluids, extreme temperatures, and/or weather conditions while using proper safety and protective equipment.
