Agricultural Equipment Operator

About the role

Mead Orchards is seeking an Agricultural Equipment Operator to join their team in Tivoli, NY. This position involves operating various vehicles to transport workers, load and unload agricultural products, and perform manual labor tasks on the farm.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing to the farm properties.
• Haul tools, supplies, or crops using the vehicles.
• Transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday.
• Load agricultural products into trucks and drive them to market or storage facilities.
• Manually plant, cultivate, and harvest fruits, berries, and vegetables.
• Use hand tools for tasks like tilling soil, transplanting, weeding, thinning, and pruning crops.
• Clean, pack, and load harvested produce.
• Construct, maintain, and repair fences, equipment, and farm buildings.
• Participate in irrigation activities such as setting up and operating irrigation equipment.
• Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery for plowing, harrowing, and fertilizing the soil.
• Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment.
• Inform the owner or farm manager of crop progress and field observations.
• Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers.
• Apply pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers to crops.
• Record information about crops, such as pesticides use, yields, or costs.
• Lift up to 50 lbs consistently throughout the day.
• Work in varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
• Comprehend simple instructions in English while working in the field.

Requirements

• Three months verifiable experience in the aforementioned tasks.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Lifting capacity of up to 50 lbs.
• Repetitive movements, extensive pushing/pulling, extensive walking, and frequent stooping.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $16.35 - $18.75 per hour.

Schedule
