Aggregate Equipment Operator

About the role

The Aggregate Equipment Operator is expected to perform tasks required to safely and efficiently operate fixed and mobile equipment typically used in an aggregate plant, including but not limited to: crushers, screens, washing equipment, loaders, off road trucks, excavators, and bull dozers.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and follow all CalPortland policies
  • Know and use appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times
  • Perform safety/quality/mechanical inspections of the plant and mobile equipment
  • Address any housekeeping issues within the work area
  • Operate loaders, excavators, haul trucks, skid steers, and bull dozers
  • Understand the process flow of the plant
  • Regularly monitor performance of all pieces of the plant within the process
  • Accurately complete and maintain maintenance, environmental, safety, production reports and compliance records
  • Successfully complete and maintain Method 9 Emissions certification
  • Work irregular and extended hours and weekends to meet customer requirements or maintenance within the facility
  • Understand MSHA rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Physical requirements: stand, walk, climb, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, drive and lift up to 100 pounds
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License and reliable transportation to work
  • Able to work in wet and/or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
  • Good communication, problem solving and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work well with others
  • Work environment may include moving mechanical parts, airborne particles and moderate to loud noises, requiring the consistent use of appropriate PPE
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of crushers, wash plants, conveyors, material washers, and various other types of fixed and mobile equipment used in the aggregate industry
  • Knowledge of the equipment and methods used in the production process, and related aspects of materials storage, handling, and distribution of aggregates
  • Experience as a heavy equipment operator including loaders, bull dozers, off road trucks and excavator
  • Current MSHA Training Certification preferred

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
