Job Summary

Sylvan Learning Center is seeking part-time instructors to help make learning personal and inspiring for students. The role involves teaching in a small group setting (4:1 ratio) using Sylvan curriculum, with minimal lesson planning provided by the SylvanSync program. Instructors are expected to be available 4-20 hours per week, typically between 3:30-7:30 Monday-Thursday and Saturdays 9:00-1:00.

About the Role

As a part-time Instructor, you will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and provided with the necessary tools to teach effectively. Your responsibilities include:

  • Teach using Sylvan based programs
  • Supervise, interact with, and motivate students during instruction time
  • Reward students for completed assignments
  • Evaluate and document student progress
  • Communicate student needs to center directors
  • Develop rapport with students and create a fun learning environment
  • Maintain a positive attitude and enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan

Responsibilities

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A passion for education and inspiring children
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage your schedule
  • An understanding of the Sylvan curriculum and teaching methods
  • Basic computer skills to access the SylvanSync program

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working with children
  • Education background in related fields such as teaching, education, or psychology
  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
  • Knowledge of the Sylvan curriculum and teaching methods
