Afterschool Program Assistant Directors and Directors - THRIVE

About the role

The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) is seeking THRIVE Directors and Assistant Directors to support and challenge students physically, mentally, and socially. The THRIVE program serves students from the Beaverton School District in after school and before school programs.

Responsibilities

• The development and implementation of assigned learning curriculum, recreation programs, classes or activities.
• Working independently, within established guidelines, to develop, coordinate, supervise and instruct the day-to-day activities of assigned program area and provide lead direction to assigned part-time staff.
• Cooking, instructing, supervising and leading learning and enrichment activities for assigned program area.
• Providing a program/class atmosphere that promotes and encourages inclusion and satisfaction of all participants.
• Ensuring the safety of program participants and if necessary, providing basic first aid.

Requirements

Applicants must be currently CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain the certification within 30 days of hire. Applicants must also be willing to complete specific DHS training, a central background registry clearance, and fingerprinting upon hire.

Qualifications

• Experience working with or volunteering with children.
• Experience in developing curriculum, scheduling staff, and budgeting.
• Leadership experience.
• Willingness to complete specific DHS training, a central background registry clearance, and fingerprinting upon hire.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and a passion for education and child development.

Pay

• Assistant Directors: $22.90 hourly
• Directors: $24.04 - $25.56 hourly

Schedule

All positions are flexibly staffed, typically Monday – Friday, between 12:30pm - 6:00pm on school days and 7:30am - 6:00pm on no school days. Part-time employees have variable schedules and may work less than 1,560 hours per year.
