About the role

The Salt Lake County Office of Utah State University Extension seeks qualified individuals to provide enriching afterschool clubs for students in Kearns and Magna, Utah. Responsibilities include planning and teaching engaging afterschool clubs, maintaining attendance records, attending required training, and participating in 4-H Afterschool events.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach engaging afterschool clubs at least once a week for 8-10 weeks.
  • Attend required training and comply with DWS licensed exempt requirements.
  • Teach multiple clubs a week and/or for multiple club cycles.
  • Attend 4-H Afterschool events such as service projects and club showcases.
  • Keep an attendance record of those students who attend your club.
  • Complete preparation hours outside of the 3:30-6:30pm classes at flexible times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Work effectively with youth, families, and schools.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be a self-starter with good follow-through.
  • Work with little supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth.
  • Past experience in the 4-H Program as a youth or volunteer.
  • Skills related to STEM and other afterschool subject matter.

This is a teaching position. Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, stoop, and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
