Afterschool Care Assistant (3 to 6) - P/T

About the Role

Bellevue Montessori School is seeking a committed Activity Club Assistant to join our team in Bellevue, WA, near Hidden Valley Park. This is a part-time, non-seasonal position with a consistent schedule of 1PM to 6PM or 2PM to 6PM, Monday through Friday, including summers. The role involves supporting teachers in creating a nurturing environment for children aged 18 months to 12 years, in line with Montessori principles.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and rotating activities, books, and art supplies
• Assisting with drop-offs and following health & safety procedures
• Preparing and providing snacks for children
• Offering assistance to children as needed, following Montessori principles
• Engaging in conversations to enhance language development
• Using positive discipline techniques to foster self-discipline and conflict resolution
• Leaving the classroom clean and sanitized for the next day
• Performing closing duties, including loading the dishwasher and laundry
• Following BMS policies and DCYF requirements
• Assisting in other areas as needed, such as covering breaks or front desk duties

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalency, or at least 18 years of age
• Prior experience working with children in a professional or semi-professional capacity (e.g., nannying, babysitting, camp counseling, or classroom setting)
• Experience with Google Drive and other platforms

• Able to lift up to 25 lbs
• Able to stand for long periods
• Passionate about working with children
• Patient, calm, kind, and understanding
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Proactive and takes initiative
• Strong attendance, punctuality, and flexibility
• Authorized to work in the US
• Complete DCYF requirements (Portable Background Check, CPR/First Aid, TB/Measles proof, Covid-19 vaccinations, Food Handler’s permit, Bloodborne Pathogens training, and initial 30-hour basic child course)
• Mandarin speaker (bonus)

Pay

Start Pay: $21.00 per hour with a $200 sign-on bonus after 90 days.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 1PM to 6PM or 2PM to 6PM, including summers.
