Afternoon Youth Mentor - Teen Leadership

About the role

We are looking for an experienced professional passionate about bringing the best out in kids, connecting to our community and having fun!

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 2:00pm–6:00pm
• 2026–2027 School Year

Pay

• $18.00–$18.50 per hour

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or human services
• Two years of experience with children
• Exhibit strong leadership skills
• Possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances

Responsibilities

• Planning of the curriculum
• Prepare and implement daily age/developmentally appropriate activities
• Oversee the safety and location of all the youth in your group
• Actively participate with the youth in all activities
• Ensure proper clean up and maintenance of all materials
• Maintain sensitivity and patience with youth and parents
• Always maintain confidentiality
• Notify the site director of any personal or programmatic problems and suggestions
• Maintain paperwork (curriculum, lesson plans, parent communication, and incident reports)
• Attend all necessary YMCA/DPW/DHS/OST trainings
• Attend Staff Meetings/Team Teaching Meetings/Back to School Nights
• Participate as a YMCA team member and contribute to the attainment of the YMCA mission
• Know the mission and be able to apply it to your job responsibilities
• Perform other related duties as assigned
