Afternoon Part Time Recreation Therapy Support Staff

About the role

The Therapeutic Recreation Support Staff provides services to participants with intellectual/developmental disabilities in various therapeutic recreational activities and outings.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, structured environment for participants
• Maintain and ensure the safety of participants during outings
• Integrate into group social settings
• Aid in community engagement and participation
• Promote developmentally appropriate activities, positive behaviors, and peer interactions

Requirements

• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record (applicable to candidates 18 years of age or older)
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken English
• Knowledge of and ability to perform care procedures for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
• Experience with therapeutic recreation, recreation and leisure studies, social sciences, education, health care, or human services preferred
• Desire to work with people and willingness to learn
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities highly desirable

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Passing score on a background check

Pay

The pay range for these positions ranges from $16.50 - $17/hour, depending on shift commitment.

Schedule

This is a part-time, seasonal position (September - May) with the opportunity to continue throughout the summer. Availability is Monday - Friday with 5 - 25 hours/week. Shift options include Adventure Locations (2:45 PM - 6:00 PM) and Venture Forward Locations (1:00 PM - 6:00 PM).
