About the role
Perform hotel security duties and procedures to ensure the safety and security of guests, employees, and the property as well as the property’s assets.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspection and ensure compliance of hotel security & safety requirements and procedures to protect hotel property, employees, and guests against theft, crime, threats, and safety hazards. This may include:
- Patrolling and inspecting with specified equipment the assigned areas, including all public areas, meeting rooms, entrances, outside building, and grounds.
- Monitoring surveillance cameras and checking for unauthorized persons or vehicles, coordinating towing of vehicles, addressing unlocked doors, and identifying fire and safety hazards.
- Documenting all actions taken during patrols and inspections.
- Maintain security procedures and audit/department logs, which may include:
- Lost and found records.
- Storing guests’ valuables.
- Key control and emergency procedures.
- Health and safety hazard procedures for employees and guests.
- Ensure all guest room doors are secured and assist guests with room access, moving or removing guest possessions, or inventory if required.
- Escort staff and guests to their cars upon request.
- Inspect purses, packages, or bags of employees if designated by management, verify employee work identification, and check the accuracy of employee time cards.
- Investigate loss and safety incidents involving guests, employees, and/or hotel property to comply with state and government regulations and hotel procedures, minimizing loss from theft and other risks.
- Administer CPR to guests or staff members in accordance with guidelines and communicate with EMS/medical personnel as required.
- Complete documented reports in line with Company and hotel policies and procedures.
- Assist in training and educating employees on current safety and security issues to ensure compliance with Company loss control policies.
- Respond courteously and promptly to all guest-related incidents, questions, complaints, and requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent, plus one year of security and safety experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must speak fluent English.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Ability to perform the following physical tasks:
- Carrying, lifting, pushing, and/or pulling items weighing up to 50-100 lbs.
- Frequently standing and moving about the facility.
- Frequently handling objects and equipment to secure the facility.
- Frequently bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with guests and employees.
- Certification in safety and training and/or licensed as a Security Officer may be required.
- Certified CPR and First Aid instructor, and training in law enforcement techniques may be required or highly desired.
- Working knowledge of local laws, investigation methods, OSHA requirements, fire codes, and life safety codes.
- Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities, especially during emergencies.
- Reading and writing abilities to document tasks, order supplies, follow instructions, and read safety procedures.
- Basic mathematical skills for occasional use.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
