About the role

Responsibilities
- Maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
- Responds to all requests for assistance from employees, patients/residents and visitors.
- Assists with any and all situation; i.e., problem-solving with positive outcomes.
- May escort personnel to and from parking areas as requested.
- Monitors conduct of visitors on premises and confronts unauthorized persons for questioning.
- Reports safety, fire hazards or security violations.
- Patrols and secures facility buildings and grounds as assigned.
- Patrols and surveils buildings and grounds, monitors security cameras, checks doors/windows for security, ensures exterior lighting and access routes are clear.
- Verifies identities, challenges unauthorized persons, controls access to sensitive areas, manages parking enforcement.
- Responds to alarms, assists with fire suppression, manages patient restraint situations, coordinates with law enforcement.
- Guides visitors, answers questions, provides escorts to/from parking lots.
- Completes daily work orders, performs basic repairs (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), and conducts preventative maintenance.
- Inspects life-safety systems (fire alarms, water temps) and reports hazards.
- Aids with snow removal, landscaping, and general upkeep of hospital properties.
- Documents all activities, incidents, and maintenance issues in detailed reports (Shift Patrol Logs, Incident Reports, Work Orders).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- College or vocational education is preferred.
- Prior experience healthcare security, contract security and/or law enforcement is highly preferred.
- Requires a current valid driver's license with Sanford insurability dependent upon region.
- Basic certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety preferred within one year of hire.

Schedule
This job offers a work shift of 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, from 9am to 5:30pm.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $19.00 - $29.00 per hour.
Skills
The necessary skills that are required involve the following: communication, writing professional reports, physical ability to perform basic security officer functions as trained, and maintaining awareness of local laws affecting behavior on private property.
