About the role

After-school teachers are responsible for the education and care of children in an after-school program. Their duties include developing a comprehensive curriculum and planning daily activities. They also interact with parents and other staff members to create a safe and fun learning environment for children. Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of children during all activities. Promote exploration, creativity, and discovery and stimulate each child's individual development. Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment. Work cooperatively with other teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials and maintain a clean and safe classroom environment.
  • Ensure that all Bank Street College, New York City Department of Health/Bureau of Day Care, and New York City Department of Education, CACFP guidelines are followed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • Experience working with preschool children in a child care setting and managing a classroom is preferred.
  • Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team, as well as develop skills in working with individual children, small groups, and the whole class.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

$19.20 per hour.

Schedule

Hours: 3:00-5:30 P.M. Monday-Friday. Position is part time: up to 14 hours per week.
