About the role

We are currently looking for energetic, dependable, and caring individuals to join our After School Care team at the following locations:

  • Purcell Jr. High After School Program | 6th–8th Grade
    Work with middle school students in a fun and engaging environment! Staff help lead activities, games, sports, and opportunities for students to connect with their peers while providing positive mentorship and supervision.
  • Noble After School Program | Pre-K–5th Grade
    Help create a safe, welcoming, and exciting place for children after school! Staff engage children in games, arts and crafts, STEM activities, sports, group activities, and supervised play.

Starting pay is $11.00 per hour; 16 and 17-year-old junior counselors start at $10.00 per hour. Pay may increase based on responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a positive relationship with program participants.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children; know where all group members are at all times.
  • Lead games and activities.
  • Take daily attendance and see that each child is signed in and out by a responsible party each day.
  • Actively engage children and participants in activities.
  • Perform daily count of meals and snacks served.
  • Report all injuries and incidences to the site coordinator.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings to help plan activities and attend CATCH trainings.
  • Develop positive relationships with school principal and staff.
  • Display YMCA character values (honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility) at all times.
  • Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors, and volunteers.

Requirements

  • Must stay current in CPR/AED/O₂ and First Aid, renewed annually (training provided by the Y if needed).
  • Must complete all required annual compliance trainings within 30 days of hire and renew annually.

Pay

Starting at $11.00 per hour; 16 and 17-year-old junior counselors start at $10.00 per hour.
