Job Summary
Best Point is seeking an After School Program Lead to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for school-age children starting in August 2026. The Program Lead supports daily operations, builds positive relationships, and provides leadership.
About the Role
The Program Lead supports the daily operations of a licensed after-school childcare program by building positive relationships with children, families, and staff. This role provides hands-on leadership by supporting group leaders, ensuring program quality, maintaining licensing requirements, and stepping into a leadership role when the School Age Services Supervisor is unavailable.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required, with an associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Education, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working directly with school-age children.
- Experience leading or supervising a childcare or youth program group.
- Ability to meet requirements for an Ohio Approved Child Care Administrator.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Child Engagement & Supervision:
- Provide active supervision of children while maintaining required staff-to-child ratios.
- Build positive relationships with children and families through consistent support and communication.
- Lead engaging activities that promote academic success, social skills, creativity, and emotional growth.
- Support homework assistance, enrichment activities, and age-appropriate programming.
- Encourage positive behavior through relationship-building, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed practices.
- Program Leadership:
- Support, coach, and provide guidance to Group Leads and childcare staff.
- Aid in daily program planning, organization, and implementation.
- Address daily operational needs, behavioral concerns, and staff support needs.
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized program environment.
- Licensing & Program Quality:
- Support compliance with Ohio Department of Children and Youth childcare licensing requirements and Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) standards.
- Aid in maintaining required documentation, attendance records, assessments, and program files.
- Participate in emergency drills and follow safety procedures.
- Support continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Administrative & Family Support:
- Maintain accurate program records, including attendance and child documentation.
- Aid in special events, field trips, supplies, and program activities.
- Communicate professionally with families and help build strong family partnerships.
- Support program operations, including supply management and administrative tasks.
Work Environment
- Exposed to a combination of office, school, and mental health treatment environments.
- Exposed to children with behavior problems.
- May be exposed to shouting and clients who may be verbally and physically aggressive.
- May be exposed to blood or vomit and bodily fluids.
- Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of sustained exertion and be able to participate in the physical restraint techniques and exercises required to ensure safety of clients at all times.
