After School Group Leader
About the Role
Join a fun team and do meaningful work as a capable and caring mentor, making a positive impact on the lives of children. This part-time position is available from August through the end of the school year, with the possibility of summer work at one of the summer camps. We are looking for individuals with youth development experience to help implement educational, enrichment, and recreational activities between the hours of 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Youth for Success
- Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes through age-appropriate day-to-day activities.
- Assists in orienting new members to the Club’s daily scheduling and program expectations (Be Safe, Be Kind, and Take Care).
- Provides guidance, role modeling, and constructive feedback to members to promote development and skill building.
- Demonstrates leadership through consistent use of safety and licensing best practices to ensure proper conduct and safety of members.
- Continuously accounts for members in their assigned group by name, face, and written attendance.
- Oversees and assists in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining program space and upkeep.
- Program Development, Implementation, and Supervision
- Effectively implements and administers programs, services, and activities for members.
- Monitors and evaluates programs to ensure Club and child safety, quality, and good appearance of the branch/site.
- Ensures program areas are safe, well-ventilated, and well-lit, and that equipment is maintained in good working condition.
- Evaluates Club programs continually, including tracking outcome metrics, to ensure they respond to member needs and address gender and cultural diversity.
- Documents any problems or issues that arise through injury/incident reports.
- Communicates with child care licensing and DCYF when applicable.
- Participates in special programs, events, and staff meetings.
- Facilitates open and effective communication with families, staff, and members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a minimum of 600 hours working in a school-age program.
- Documentation of at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or another child-focused field from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Employees 19 years of age may be assigned to the senior program.
- Knowledge of youth development.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
- Ability to communicate with parents/guardians.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications to meet Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements.
- Occasional travel for meetings/trainings may be required.
- May be asked to drive a Club van/short bus (21 years of age or older only). Must possess a safe driving record and submit it to the Operations Director or HR.

The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit employment based on disqualifying findings.
