Part-time position (4 hrs/day, 10 months/year) in the Extended Day Enrichment Program (EDEP) at Hollymead Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide students in the After-School program with a safe environment and a quality enrichment program.
  • Prepare and implement lesson plans.
  • Coordinate activities and special events.
  • Meet students at designated time and location.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative professional relations with EDEP staff and school staff.
  • Exhibit positive public relations and uphold school rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide care for students in all EDEP venues (After School, Student Holiday, Spring Break, and Inclement Weather programs).
  • Participate in EDEP programs as assigned.
  • Attend required and assigned training sessions.
  • Exhibit dependable work habits and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Establish and maintain high standards of behavior.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate and develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certified.
  • Knowledge of child development and stages of growth.
  • Lesson planning ability and strong organizational skills.
  • Behavior management and supervisory skills.
  • Punctuality, dependability, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of student instruction and management practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of school system rules and procedures for classroom, halls, cafeteria, library, and transportation.
  • Ability to guide, direct, teach, and control students.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to type basic records and operate audio-visual equipment.

Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree in a child-related field; OR
  • 6 months of supervised programmatic experience (and 24 hours of training related to child care within 6 months of being promoted).
  • Training in Basic First Aid.

Working Conditions

  • Duties performed typically in school settings, including cafeterias, gyms, recreational areas, and other assigned spaces.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasional travel with students on field trips.
  • Frequent movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required.
  • Occasional lifting of equipment such as audio-visuals weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Daily personal and close contact with children and EDEP staff to provide an effective learning environment.
  • Regular contact with staff members and parents; occasional contact with medical professionals.
