About the role

iCook After School is an innovative educational company that provides a fun, hands-on after-school cooking and nutrition education program for children in grades K-4. The program enriches children's lives by teaching them to love cooking, eating delicious and healthful dishes, and learning about different cultures and the stories behind food. This is a temporary, part-time opportunity to make an impact on children's lives while maintaining a flexible schedule with classes near you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead after-school cooking classes for elementary students (K-4), exciting them about trying fun and creative recipes, new foods, and learning about new cuisines and cultures.
  • Teach provided lesson plans related to the basics of nutrition and healthy eating in a fun and engaging way.
  • Introduce kids to basic cutting and measuring techniques, food safety, table manners, and other concepts provided in the curriculum.
  • Purchase groceries for each class based on the recipes provided (reimbursed separately).

Requirements

  • Experience working with large groups of kids (e.g., in a school setting, summer camp, etc.).
  • Enthusiasm for teaching, cooking, and nutrition.
  • Effective classroom management skills.
  • Energetic personality and ability to keep students engaged during class.
  • Punctuality and reliability, with access to a reliable form of transportation.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout a classroom setting during program instruction.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and kneel as needed during program setup, instruction, and cleanup.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, and transport program materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to load and unload program supplies from a vehicle, as applicable.
  • Ability to travel to assigned program locations.

Schedule

  • Classes run in the afternoon between 2:00–5:00 PM, typically for one hour per session.
  • Classes are held once per day, Monday through Friday, with a maximum of 5 classes per week (one per day).
  • Fall 2026 programming begins in October 2026 and runs through April 2027.
  • Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:00–4:00 PM, including 90 minutes of instructional time followed by 30 minutes of student supervision.
  • Classes will be held at various school sites across the Rialto Unified School District (USD).

Pay

$100 per class (2-hour class time). This rate accounts for approximately three hours of total work per class, including preparation and clean-up.
