About the role

Sticky Fingers Cooking® Houston West is looking for a part-time Chef Instructor to teach kids about cooking, nutrition, and healthy eating habits in a fun, flexible, and meaningful setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hands-on cooking classes, teaching kids how to chop, mix, measure, and create healthy recipes from around the world.
  • Spark creativity by introducing kids to new ingredients, cuisines, and cultures in an engaging way.
  • Prepare for classes using provided curricula, shop for fresh ingredients, and set up a fun, safe environment.
  • Inspire and encourage kids as they gain confidence in the kitchen.

Requirements

  • Available to teach 1-hour classes (approximately 90 minutes on campus) at least 2 days a week between 2-5 PM, Mondays through Fridays.
  • Punctual, reliable, and comfortable managing groups of 8-14 kids.
  • Arrive on campus 15-30 minutes prior to scheduled class time (varies per school).
  • Able to commit to teaching sessions that run 4-12 weeks.
  • Have or be willing to obtain a ServSafe Food Handler Certification.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must pass state and FBI background checks as a condition of employment.
  • No professional cooking experience required; experience working with kids of varying ages is a plus.

A day in the life

As a Sticky Fingers Cooking® instructor, you'll travel to different schools in your area to bring "the kitchen" to kids. Using our developed recipes, you'll teach essential cooking skills, food safety, and the history and culture behind each dish—all while fostering creativity and confidence. From slicing and dicing to learning about global cuisines, kids will have a blast in your classes, and so will you!

Pay

$55 to teach a 1-hour class plus 30 minutes for setup and cleanup (approximately 90 minutes total on campus), with food reimbursement.

Schedule

Part-time, with classes typically held on weekdays between 2-5 PM. Must be available at least 2 days a week for sessions running 4-12 weeks.
