Sticky Fingers Cooking® of San Diego is looking to hire a part-time After School Children's Cooking Instructor to help us Cultivate COOLinary Curiosity in Kids®! About the role
As a part-time After School Children's Cooking Instructor, you are the face of our company, interacting with children (ages 4-18), parents, and school staff each week. You will work on-site at different locations in your area, leading hour-long healthy and engaging cooking enrichment classes for students. Each week, you will prepare for class by shopping independently for ingredients, reviewing recipes, and packing your Chef kit. You will teach students basic kitchen skills—washing, cutting, grating, stirring, measuring, nutrition—and the history, geography, and language behind each recipe in a dynamic hands-on environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead hour-long cooking classes for children aged 4-18
- Shop independently for ingredients and prepare recipes
- Pack and transport a cooking kit containing all necessary equipment and tools
- Teach basic kitchen skills, nutrition, and cultural context of recipes
- Engage a group of 8-12 children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels
- Communicate with the Sticky Fingers Cooking team in a timely manner
- Use a cellular device for attendance and recipe access
Requirements
- Availability at least 2 days a week (Monday - Friday, between 1:30-4 pm)
- Commitment to teaching full sessions (ranging from 6-12 weeks)
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification (can obtain before teaching)
- Access to reliable transportation
- Punctual and reliable
- Upon hire, pass a fingerprint background check
Qualifications
- No professional cooking experience required
- Experience working with kids of varying ages is a plus
Pay
$50.00 per 1-hour class + shopping time + $14 food reimbursement.
Schedule
Flexible part-time hours with the option to work holidays or weekends. School assignments will be as close to your home/work as possible.
