After-School (Athenaeum) Lead Teacher

Duties And Responsibilities

• Supervise up to 20 students in a classroom setting.
• Facilitate homework, recess, and other activities.
• Present lessons from provided classical curriculum.
• Utilize appropriate child guidance and classroom management strategies.
• Model and instill Great Hearts 9 Core Virtues (responsibility, perseverance, integrity, honesty, courage, citizenship, humility, friendship, wisdom).
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure high quality programs.
• Follow all licensing rules and regulations per AZDHS.
• Follow protocols for responding to and documenting student behavior and significant events.
• Escalate incident reports and significant events to supervisor.
• Substitute at another campus when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required/Preferred Education

• Some college preferred but not required.
• Must meet qualifications for Teacher/Caregiver in accordance with Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of Childcare licensing.
• Lead Teachers must have 3 months of experience in a qualifying setting or a degree in education/related field.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Required/Preferred Skills

• The successful candidate will be a principled, professional leader with an independent work ethic and a heart of service to others.
• They must demonstrate sound business judgment and wisdom in dealing with people.
• Preference will be given to those candidates who have worked in a licensed program.
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
