Position Summary
Art Specialists work directly with groups of kids, providing safe, supervised, fun, engaging, and age-appropriate Fine Arts activities in a structured before and after school setting. Activities are planned and implemented based on site needs, approved by the Program Manager. The role involves creating lesson plans that support fine motor skills, creativity, cultural awareness, and an appreciation of the arts. Support and assistance are provided during academic blocks, and direct supervision is maintained at all times, adhering to ratios.
Daily communication with families, staff, and school personnel is essential. Maintaining a positive work environment is also part of the responsibilities.
Schedule
After school programs operate Monday through Friday, from dismissal until the end of the program (5:30pm or 6:00pm). Morning programs run from 7:00am/7:15am to the start of school. Five-day availability is preferred but not required. An additional 1 hour of planning time is provided each week school is in session.

Requirements
- Cleared through NYS OCFS, including background checks, medical clearance, and fingerprinting.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Education and/or experience per NYS OCFS regulations.
- Experience planning and implementing art curriculum to children preferred.
Physical Requirements
This position is very active and requires walking, bending, kneeling, running, twisting, and squatting. Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending are common. Generally, must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at a time.
