After Care Associate

Position Summary Kansas City Christian School is seeking a warm, responsible, and mission-aligned After School Care Associate to support our Elementary After Care Program for students in grades 1 through 6. This role is essential to providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where students complete homework, engage in physical activity and creative play, all within the context of KCC's Christian mission and values. Reports To Head of Elementary Key Responsibilities Supervise students in grades 1 through 6 during after school care hours, ensuring their safety and well being at all timesSupport a structured daily routine that includes homework time, physical activity, and creative play.Build positive, encouraging relationships with students that reflect a Christian model of care and characterAssist students with homework and academic tasks as neededLead or assist with age appropriate games, crafts, and enrichment activitiesManage student check in and check out procedures, verifying authorized pickup and maintaining accurate daily attendance recordsCommunicate clearly and respectfully with parents and guardians regarding their child's day, including any concernsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe care space, including materials and suppliesEnforce school behavior expectations consistently and with graceRespond appropriately to minor injuries or incidents and follow school protocol for reportingCollaborate with other After Care staff and elementary faculty to ensure a smooth transition from the school day into after careSupport late pickup procedures in accordance with school policy Qualifications High school diploma required; some college coursework or a degree in education, child development, or a related field preferredPrior experience working with elementary age children in a school, childcare, or camp setting preferredGenuine, personal Christian faith and a willingness to model that faith for studentsStrong communication skills with children, parents, and colleaguesAbility to manage groups of children with patience, warmth, and firm, consistent boundariesCPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hireAbility to pass a background checkReliable availability for the full after care window on scheduled school days Schedule Part time, Monday through Friday (preferred), approximately 3:00 to 6:00 PM on full school days, following the KCC academic calendar and quarterly registration structure. We will also consider candidates that may only be available 2-4 days a week as well. Please communicate your availability. Physical Requirements Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 30 poundsAbility to respond quickly to student needs, including in the event of an emergency Mission Fit KCC is a faith based K through 12 school, and every staff member is expected to support and reinforce the school's Christian mission in daily interactions with students and families. This role is often a student's first and last interaction of the school day, making it a meaningful opportunity for spiritual encouragement and consistent, caring presence.
