About the role
IDS is currently searching for a Cost Estimator with experience in Department of Defense (DoD)/Department of War (DoW) financial management processes, government financial and accounting systems, acquisition and budgeting processes, and relational databases to provide support and training on-site to a government customer to support the Program Executive Office for Nuclear Command, Control, Communications Sustainment Division (NCL).
Responsibilities
- Use of routine cost estimating methods such as analogy, engineering or scientific methodology, and extrapolation.
- Use of cost estimating outputs to assess the impact various factors have on the costs to design, research, develop, produce, field, operate, maintain, and dispose of a particular weapon system.
- Most appropriate phase of the budgetary cycle (planning, programming, justification, execution, etc.) for initiating new programs.
- Analyze all elements affecting costs for a project of limited scope.
- Analyze Contractor financial data using EVM measures of merit to determine program viability with respect to cost, schedule, and performance.
- Use of the Automated Cost Estimating Integrated Tool (ACEIT) Suite to perform all program office estimates and analyses is mandatory use for working in the NC3 Directorate for all cost analysis positions.
- Analytical processes, such as setting up the problem, conducting background research, collecting, and reducing data, displaying data for analysis, formulating mathematical expressions, and drawing conclusions.
- Compliance with all cost estimating guidance including the appropriate DoD, Air Force, AFMC, AFNWC, or lower-level policy, publications, supplements, manuals, etc., as well as applicable documents and regulations, systems, processes, and guides, as required.
- Other Duties As Assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of three (3) years of government acquisition, finance or financial management, program management or related experience within a DoD/DoW organization.
- Familiarization with Air Force Cost Estimating practices and techniques.
- Strong Finance background and analytical mindset.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in business management, engineering, computer science, mathematics, economics or other related discipline.
Physical & Mental Qualifications
- Must be able to sit, type, hear, see, and speak for extended periods of time.
- Must consistently work and type on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to communicate accurate information and ideas so others will understand.
- Must be able to lift/carry at least 15 lbs.
- May be required to move about inside an office to access file cabinets, office supplies, etc.

Pay
$70,000 - $110,000 per year
Schedule
Normal work schedule hours may vary, Monday through Friday. May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends, as needed, to meet deadlines or to fulfill travel obligations.
