Affordable Lending Originator
SUMMARY OF THE JOB
Reporting to the Loan Originations Manager, the Affordable Lending Originator develops mortgage loan business in the Bank's assessment area with a special focus on low- and moderate-income census tracts and low- and moderate-income borrowers. The incumbent will develop a sales plan and implement a marketing approach with emphasis on obtaining CRA-related mortgage loans and performing CRA-related activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Identify community and neighborhood groups focused on housing and serve as the Bank’s representative to these groups.
- Conduct an analysis of the marketplace to identify realtors, attorneys, and builders who specialize in serving low and moderate income borrowers.
- Develop a sales plan targeting these referral sources and implement the plan to meet CRA objectives.
- Prepare CRA activity reports detailing all activities related to sales calling and outreach efforts.
- Originate CRA-related first and second mortgages that meet the Bank’s stated guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct home buyer education training sessions and follow up with attendees.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
- Identify potential cross-sell opportunities for other Bank products and services and refer to appropriate Bank employees.
DIMENSIONS
- Annual Sales Goals: $7-10 million annually, with 80% in low or moderate census tracts, substantially minority census tracts, or to low- or moderate-income borrowers.
- Seminars: Conduct at least one home buyer seminar per month.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Working Knowledge: Conventional and government loan programs, and Fannie/FHLMC/secondary market guidelines; thorough understanding of CHFA and FHA guidelines.
- Experience: Four years' sales experience and computer skills required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Use of general office equipment.
- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to travel.
POSITION PAY
Salary Range: $26.60/hour - 41.00/hour. Position pays base (within the salary range) + commission. Actual compensation within the pay range will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.
