About the role
This role is within the Chromalloy New York Engineering Organization. The role reports to the Non-Repair Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- Technical/Production Support: Develops and optimizes manufacturing processes for assigned areas and applicability to NPI and OEM businesses.
- Process/Product Development: Leads moderate scope projects producing new designs and processes using lean tools and methodologies to positively impact business metrics.
- Project Updates: Reports on project updates, leads or participates in technical meetings, communicates with various organizations including Chromalloy Center of Excellence, Operations, Quality, Customer Support, in a matrix structure.
- Special Processes: Utilizes expertise in thermal spray (APS, LPPS), EBPVD, diffusion coatings (VPA, pack cementation), precious metal plating, specialty welding, machining, laser processes, EDM, heat treatment, braze, chemical cleaning and stripping.
- Quality Assurance: Ensures products and processes meet quality requirements and operational objectives.
- Problem Solving: Leads problem-solving teams, conducts RCCAs on equipment and process-related issues, addresses manufacturing challenges, recommends and initiates process improvements.
- Training: Trains less experienced team members.
Qualifications
- Preferred Degree: Aerospace, Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience: 2+ years or more in design, manufacturing, or repair engineering, with experience in the aerospace industry preferred.
- Knowledge: Detailed knowledge of gas turbine manufacturing and repair processes, familiarity with FAA guidelines for PMA and RS-DER requirements and compliance testing, knowledge of NADCAP or similar industrial quality certifications, experience with high temperature material systems, experience with continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, design thinking methodologies.
