About the role
The Aerospace Machinist Lead supports TOS II at Arnold AFB Tennessee, working as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining or supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.
Responsibilities
- Preparing Test Facility equipment for operations
- Prepare test articles for testing
- Install test articles and check installation
- Troubleshoot equipment, test articles, and installations in case of malfunctions
- Operate plant and test equipment during tests
- Aids in tests and operates test articles such as controls for engines and rockets; removes test articles after tests
- Installs and maintains facility systems; accomplishes maintenance and servicing work required to place and keep test facility equipment in operation
- Uses a wide variety of hand and machine tools, powered equipment, measuring and testing equipment
- Instructs less experienced lower-level grade craftsmen
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements
- Six years of machinist experience in the working section of an Aeronautical Test Facility
- Progressive experience as an Aerospace Machinist, Machinist, Millwright, Aircraft Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic may be substituted for the required experience
- Ability to skillfully operate and work with the wide variety of hand and machine tools associated with trade
- Ability to direct the work of lower grade craftsman
Qualifications
- Current U. S. Citizenship required
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and the AEDC local area network
Skills
- Ability to operate and work with a wide variety of hand and machine tools associated with trade
- Ability to direct the work of lower grade craftsman

Pay
Starting Hourly Rate: $40.37 - $44.86
Schedule
Open to work any shift, with shift determination based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.
